This article has been making the rounds recently - I think I've received it from 10 people. The facts of white and light-skinned privilege are unassailable. That said, privilege never gives itself up. It can't. It forms one's whole approach to the world and it determines how others view you. The rest of us as we come into our own have to make sure that we expect right treatment without having a sense of entitlement more than others.
That's a real balancing act.

wow - I appreciate the time someone took to think through some of these connections. it's a difficult topic but so relevant to bring out somehow. it enables us to be a little bit more conscious about our assumptions and how they influence our thoughts and then, ultimately behaviors. this should definitely be framed as news analysis and worked into the MAINSTREAM public discourse somehow.
(It is something to note that mainstream media HAS commented on that voting and race phenomenon where how people SAY they will vote with regards to a candidate of color turns out to be different than what they ACTUALLY DID. In each case that has been presented to support this, the candidate of color lost support by significant percentages.)

thanks for giving this issue a forum.
